Ugly Holiday Sweater

Asante Children's Choir

So last night at church was the Ugly Holiday Sweater Party
I was one of the top 5 with ugliest sweater.
My sister beat me and got second place.
She got a starbucks gift card.
So I suppose that today is gonna be a starbucks kind of morning.
Anywho these little guys above are from the Asante Children's Choir from Rwanda.
The way they move is full of so much joy and passion, that its hard to not be happy watching them
To simplify, they're amazing.
Some are orphans, others came from single parents
But either way, they live a tough life.
You can help support these little guys and provide for their needs
by sponsoring one of them.
just go to www.AfricaMissionAlliance.org
or call them at 503-296-4853 for more detailed info.
Change the life of a child today...

D-List

So last month, Justin and I showed at the Models&Bottles 2010 event at Citrus.
Turns out, some of the images got put in the December issue of D-List magazine. Page 80
Check it out.

Not too shabby.
Anywho.
Today was a day well spent.
I completely dedicated to my jacket that's due on Monday.
All I'm saying, is I always do like a challenge.
But it's coming along beautifully.
Reminds me of a Siamese cat.
Yeah, sounds weird.
But you will later see why....
Funny how with sometimes things seem to go so negatively in life,
And within a matter of minutes, everything can be turned right back around.
I'm very blessed for the opportunities that I am being presented with.
I've got some great things planned out in the near future.
I just hope things go according to plan....
That's all.

Designer Jacket.

So last Saturday, I'd have to say I spent a good 5 hours draping and patterning my new jacket for my Pattern II class final.
I come to school today to finish it up and realize I lost it.
I was kinda sad to start all over but to be honest I'm glad I did.
And so that's what I've been doing for the past 5 hours.
Started draping from scratch and it looks way better than before.
Sexier, edgier, and more fitted.
It's not almost 5pm and I just realized that I haven't even eaten yet.
Sushi sounds amazing right about now. Not just any sushi,
but the Super Bad Boy, Crunch roll, and Shrimp Tempura.
Best sushi I've ever tasted.
And anyone that knows me, knows I'm not a sushi fan.
I think I got enough work done today.
I shall continue tomorrow.
Maybe go on an adventure to seek out a new fabric store.
Yeah, that sounds about right.

La La La La Laaaa.... ;)

House to myself.
Fireplace and candles burning.
Tree lit up.
Music blasting.
Dancing around in my sweats.
Russian style.

"Vot takaya vot istoriya la la la la laaa"

oh the memories this brings...
takes me back to the good ol' Wyoming times.
I'm missing my old crew.
You guys can never be replaced.
;)
It's been a lazy kinda Sunday.

Another Day Another Dollar.

Today was a fairly productive day. Didn't get much sleep the night before, but then again, that's nothing unusual. Guess what I did first thing in the morning...yep, I went to the fabric store.
Gosh.
I'm like a kid in a candy store when it comes to things like that.
I had no intentions of buying anything, I just went along with Justin to keep him company.
I should have known better.
I don't think that there's been a single time that I went into a fabric store and came out empty handed.
Anywho, I was just wandering around, and all of a sudden this amazing fabric caught my eye.
What do I do? Well I immediately rush over to check it out. My head begins to spin with ideas.
So I buy some. And then, I put it on hold, so that I can come  back and buy some more.
As soon as I got back to school I begin to think and research. Trying to figure out what I want.
It's always hard for me to draw a design on paper and then try to make a replica of it.
I'm always changing something up.
I love to just let my creativity flow and be able to design on the spot.
No pressure, no stress.
So i began to drape. And re-drape. I got about halfway done and decided it was enough for the day.
I'll save the rest for tomorrow.
Decided I'll sleep on it and see what comes to mind.
Before I do that I'll wait for the roomies to come home. They went on an expedition to get some fresh chocolate chip cookies....mmmmm. that sounds heavenly, right about.....now....

And Thus A New Blogger Was Born.

My name is Olesya Grabovskaya, but I'm sure you probably already caught that when you read my bio.
Passionate, Goal Driven, Dreamer, Risk Taker.
I like all those words and then some because they happen to describe me perfectly.
I like to live life on the edge and living life as a designer helps me to do that quite well.
I'm bursting with all kinds of ideas and can do just about anything that  I set my heart and mind to.

When I take a look at people such as Coco Chanel and the crazy life she had, I see a whole lot of myself.
I guess that can only mean I'm on my way to greatness.
The statement: "Don't ever let someone tell you that there are things that you are incapable of doing because in today's world, anything is possible." is what I live by.
People with this type of mindset are the people that I surround myself with.

I have always been a giver, and my friends are always telling me that I need to learn how to start receiving. I believe in generosity in all aspects because what you sow you will reap. In other words, what goes around, comes around.

When I design, I want my clothing to have meaning. I want to design dreams and lifestyles and all kinds of passion inside individuals. Behind every collection lies a certain story, a certain trial, a certain inspiration, a certain hardship. How much more exciting and meaningful would fashion become if people would just take the time to dig deeper into it. Deeper into all of the behind-the-scenes action.

I'm sure everyone wants to be rich, famous, and successful, but what good is money if it doesn't get put to good use? It has the power to build a person, but it also has the power to destroy someone as well. Therefore it is important to have good intentions for everything we do. People say the rich are greedy and selfish. I don't find this to be true at all. In fact I think the opposite is true. People that live in poverty are the selfish ones, because they are never able to be a blessing unto someone else. This is why I aim to be successful in what I do. So that I am able to give back to the less fortunate because in my opinion, this is where true happiness lies.

This is just a bit about me, and where I stand. Now together let's embark on this fashion journey. =]
